A Message from Brad Vis, MP for Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon;

I want to thank all of you for casting a ballot and participating in Canada’s democracy. Every vote cast, every ballot counted, and every voice heard makes Canada stronger. Collectively, 732 of you partook in this race. With a participation rate of approximately 70% of our active membership, we exceeded the national average for democratic participation.

In Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, Dr. Leslyn Lewis was the first choice. Leslyn brought fresh energy to the campaign and Canada’s broader conservative movement. I am very confident that Leslyn will join me in Parliament after the next election! Well done Dr. Lewis.

 

MP Derek Sloan and the Hon. Peter MacKay also had strong followings in our riding. I spoke to many of you who were called to join our Party based on their messages and values. Well done MP Sloan and Mr. MacKay.

Finally, a big thank you to my friend and colleague Erin O’Toole. Erin ran a brilliantly executed campaign with a strong emphasis on Zoom townhalls, social media, and thousands upon thousands of telephone calls. After Dr. Lewis, Erin was the second choice on the first ballot in Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon. On the third ballot, he had 67% support. That shows many of you who marked Dr. Lewis or MP Sloan #1, chose MP O’Toole as your #2.

In yesterday’s victory speech, Erin stated the following:

Today, you have given me a clear mission:
To unite our party.

To champion our conservative principles.
To show Canadians what we know so well
– that Justin Trudeau and his team are
failing our great country.

We must continue to point out Liberal
failings and corruption BUT we also must
show Canadians our vision for a stronger,
prosperous and more united Canada.

Canada can - and must - do better and
Conservatives will work hard to earn the trust
and confidence of Canadians in the next election.

I know very well from my own work in our riding, that many of you are at a boiling point: the transgressions of the Liberals are just too much. I share your frustration and will work extremely hard to bring a reinvigorated CPC vision for the next election based on true conservative principles.

Finally, please know when a confidence vote is called, I will be voting against the Liberals and am actively preparing for a fall election.

So, a big-thank you to all of you who have donated to our Electoral District Association campaign fund. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised over $15,000 this summer and are close to having enough to fight a fall election.

I would be remiss if I did not extend a big shout out to our volunteer Communications Director Christopher Di Armani for dedicating countless hours raising funds and keeping our email inbox active.
